Unlike the others who eat humans the BFG is gentle and survives on a diet of "snozzcumbers" and "frobscottle."
As Sophie and the BFG become friends she learns about the BFG’s job of collecting and distributing dreams to children. However the other giants who are much bigger and meaner pose a threat to both the BFG and the human world. Together Sophie and the BFG devise a plan to stop the man-eating giants by seeking help from the Queen of England.

The movie touches on themes of friendship courage and the power of dreams. It also explores the idea of being different and how kindness and bravery can overcome fear and prejudice.
Visuals and Effects
The film uses advanced motion-capture technology to bring the giants to life with Mark Rylance’s performance as the BFG being a standout. The combination of live-action and CGI creates a visually enchanting world especially in scenes where the BFG introduces Sophie to the magical dream-catching environment.
Reception
The BFG received generally positive reviews with praise for its visual effects Mark Rylance’s performance and the heartwarming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic tale. Critics appreciated the film’s whimsical tone and the way it captured the essence of Dahl’s story. However some felt that the pacing was a bit slow and the film did not achieve the same level of commercial success as Spielberg’s other works.
Legacy
While not as commercially successful as expected The BFG remains a charming adaptation of a beloved children’s book. It stands out as a family-friendly film that showcases Spielberg’s ability to create magical heartfelt stories. The collaboration between Spielberg and the late screenwriter Melissa Mathison (who also wrote E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) added an extra layer of emotional depth to the film making it a memorable watch for both children and adults alike.
