The story of "The Secret Life of Pets 2" is divided into three main storylines that eventually converge
Max and Duke s Story Max (now voiced by Patton Oswalt) and Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet) are adjusting to new changes in their household. Katie, their owner, gets married and has a baby named Liam. Initially, Max is anxious and overprotective of Liam, worrying about his safety all the time. The stress manifests as an itch, leading Katie to put a cone around Max’s neck.
The family takes a trip to a farm, where Max meets Rooster (voiced by Harrison Ford), a tough and seasoned sheepdog. Rooster teaches Max to be more confident and less fearful. Through various experiences on the farm, including rescuing a lamb, Max learns to overcome his anxieties and embrace his role as Liam’s protector.
Gidget s Story Gidget (voiced by Jenny Slate), the feisty Pomeranian, is tasked with taking care of Max’s favorite toy, a busy bee squeaky toy, while he’s away at the farm. However, she accidentally loses it in a cat-infested apartment. To retrieve the toy, Gidget enlists the help of Chloe (voiced by Lake Bell), the sarcastic cat, to teach her how to act like a cat. In a comedic sequence, Gidget successfully infiltrates the apartment, gains the trust of the cats, and retrieves the toy, becoming their “queen” in the process.
Snowball s Story Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart), the former leader of the Flushed Pets, now lives as a domesticated pet with a young girl who dresses him in superhero pajamas. Believing himself to be a superhero named "Captain Snowball," he embarks on a mission with a new dog named Daisy (voiced by Tiffany Haddish) to rescue a white tiger cub named Hu from a cruel circus owner, Sergei. This storyline is action-packed, with Snowball and Daisy facing various challenges to free Hu and bring him to safety.
