The story revolves around Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja) and his wife Avni (Vidya Balan), who return to Siddharth s ancestral palace in Rajasthan, a place believed to be haunted by the spirit of Manjulika, a dancer from Bengal. Strange and eerie occurrences begin to take place in the palace, convincing the family that the spirit has returned.
To unravel the mystery, Siddharth calls upon his friend Dr. Aditya Shrivastav (Akshay Kumar), a psychiatrist. Aditya attempts to use his expertise to determine whether the hauntings are supernatural or psychological, leading to shocking revelations about Avni s mental state and the true cause behind the strange events.
